Declutter your Hybrid Workforce

Now that this hybrid model is here to stay, IT has had to adapt

Just a few short years ago, “knowledge workers” were likely to have to report to a physical workplace. Whether five days a week or just a couple.

But as we all know COVID came along and changed the way we work.
As the pandemic rolled through communities and offices, people retreated to their homes. Between late 2019 and May of 2020, remote work shot up from 4% of workers to 65% . Gone were the cubicles and water coolers. Kitchen Islands everywhere became the new office.

Then the workers filled their online shopping carts with peripheral equipment, monitors, cameras, and hand sanitizer if they could get it.

As they settled into their new office chairs in their pj bottoms, they started to realize that they were no longer bound to any one physical location. Many knowledge workers sold their houses and moved to locations where they could experience more.

We are now in this new era. A hybrid world. A world without digital borders.
And with this seismic shift in how we do business has come a host of IT challenges. As workers spread to all corners of the earth, that increased the strain on IT to provide more flexible services, while still satisfying the safety and fortitude of their services while meeting compliance and security requirements.

It’s easier for people to be all in the office or all remote. It’s easier for IT to plan to have all employees in one physical location with centralized IT and devices, physical workspaces.

Now that this hybrid model is here to stay, IT has had to adapt. The companies that are reliant on physical servers and the more rigid centralized workplace are the ones that have had the most difficulty making this switch.

Some organizations have struggled to transform digitally² and are still trying to play catchup.

But the world is not waiting for them. Or your organization.

72% of companies plan to invest more in tools for virtual collaboration in the future.

Technology now allows people to connect anytime, anywhere, to anyone in the world, from almost any device. This is dramatically changing the way people work, facilitating 24/7 collaboration with colleagues who are dispersed across time zones, countries, and continents.³
